These patterns are experiencing rapid growth and developing extraordinary chances for investors. I wish to ensure all our readers are prepared for what's next. And with that in mind, let me draw the photo of what I see can be found in the next 12 months 1. 5G Gadgets Our new 5G (fifth-generation) wireless networks are a topic I've been covering for years now.
Despite the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic interfered with supply chains last year, a remarkable 250 million 5G-enabled devices were still offered. Particularly in the second quarter, there were supply chain interruptions, making hold-ups, and work stoppages. And all of this ultimately caused Apple delaying the release of the 5G-enabled i, Phone 12 by 2 months.
When you consider all of that, selling 250 million units is amazing. More notably, the hold-ups triggered by the pandemic created a ton of suppressed need. And that need is now going to be pushed into 2021. In truth, I forecast that more than 500 million 5G devices will be delivered in 2021.
Stage Three of 5G When I've discussed 5G in the past, I've described its three various phases. In Phase One, the infrastructure of these brand-new networks is constructed out, including all the new towers and fiber-optic electrical wiring that 5G will require. In Phase Two, 5G devices go on sale.
And in Phase Three, 5G services begin to be provided. That's when we start to see applications running on 5G networks. Believe of things like massive multiplayer games over a mobile phone. The financial investment opportunities going forward will be enormous. 3. CRISPR Genetic Editing Stepping away from 5G, the next crucial technology I predict in 2021 is CRISPR hereditary modifying. CRISPR stands for "clustered routinely interspaced brief palindromic repeat." It's a mouthful. However it is among the most exciting advancements in biotechnology.
